RESPONSIBILITIES:-Examines plants and soil/potting mix to assess moisture levels and waters plants as per species requirements. Monitors plants for insects and diseases, consults plant care resources to identify problems, and determines corrective actions. Applies specified chemical solutions to feed plants, control pests, and maintain plant health using sprays, aerosols, and other tools. Prunes and pinches stems, shoots, and leaves to remove dead growth and promote new growth. Oversees the proper disposal of diseased plants via the incinerator. Maintains records on plant care, including location, variety, and treatment, and provides weekly reports of horticultural activities. Cares for a variety of live plants and flowers across the vessel, following the ship’s integrated pest management plan.
REQUIREMENT:-2-3 years of plant care experience in a 4- or 5-star hotel or high-profile public venue. Knowledge of the horticultural requirements of ornamental plants, including the use of insecticides, fertilizers, and gardening tools. Familiarity with general horticultural or agricultural chemicals, methods of application, and safety procedures. Ability to communicate clearly in English with guests and colleagues. Ability to read and write in English to understand and follow written procedures.
